The Digital Revolution of Bespoke Design

Anatomical design meets avant-garde technology to set the standard for digitally tailored eyewear in a personalised item with all the luxurious attributes of a handcrafted product.

MY VERY OWN integrates three digital technologies – 3D scanning, parametric design and additive manufacturing – to tailor the design and fit of a pair of glasses to the individual topography of each face.

3D Scan

The 3D scan is responsible for capturing the topography of the face, forming the basis for MVO bespoke eyewear. Relying on advanced algorithms developed by MYKITA’s technology partner Volumental, the scanner gathers images of the face to compile an accurate 3D model, which is used to customise the frame in a digital fitting.

Parametric design

Parametric design is a process based on algorithmic thinking in which a single design is not a static unchangeable entity, but dynamic. The parametrically designed glasses of the MVO collection comprise more than ten variable parameters. Micro-adjustments to the width of the frame, breadth of the nose bridge, angle of the frame to the face and position of the nose pads, as well as the length and radius of the temples guarantee optimal fit and aesthetic proportions for every face.

Optometric perfection

A perfectly tailored frame is not only important for the sake of appearance, but a prerequisite for optimal vision. Integrating individual lens centring data into the MVO process ensures the lens can be precisely positioned in front of the eye.

This combination of anatomic design, digital technology and optometric perfection is the first of its kind to date and will effect a new sense of sight in wearers of corrective eyewear.

Soft customisation

Merging the physical and the virtual, the MY VERY OWN process begins with the customer selecting an eyewear shape from the MVO collection in store. In a digital simulation of the selected model, the frame is adjusted to the individual facial contours. The colour of the frame, lenses and hinges can then be selected and virtually composed for a truly bespoke pair of glasses. MVO eyewear may also be personalised on the inside of the temple. The MVO soft customisation kit will be regularly updated with new designs and materials.

The steps to MY VERY OWN MYKITA

The professional eye exam at a MYKITA SHOP or selected optician forms the basis for a pair of bespoke glasses.

A desired style is selected from the exclusive MVO collection of optical and sunglass frames.

The MVO tablet links the physical and virtual fitting.

Volumental’s 3D scanning technology captures the topography of the face.

During the digital fitting, the MVO algorithm allows up to a billion adjustment variations to ensure optimal aesthetic proportions and vision.

Integrating the optical centring data ensures the lens is precisely positioned in front of the eye.

The colour of frame, lens and hinge is selected and virtually composed for a personalised pair of glasses.

At MYKITA HAUS, the glasses are assembled by hand and personalised.

Upon completion, the digitally bespoke MVO eyewear is delivered to its owner.
